Finance Business Partner
Finance Business Partner Department: Central Finance Reports To: Head of Finance, Steam Thermal Solutions (STS)
About the Role
The Finance Business Partner will act as a key strategic business partner and advisor, developing and implementing financial strategies aligned with Steam Thermal Solutions (STS) and Group goals, to maximise financial returns across core operational areas.
As a trusted finance leader, the role holder provides leadership, oversight, and financial rigour to ensure the business strategy and financial objectives are delivered consistently. The position oversees Innovation & Product Development (IPM), Steam Digital & Services, Global Oil, Gas & Chemicals (GOGC), and Sustainability/Green Tech (GT).
Direct Responsibilities
- Line Management – Oversees four Management Accountants (for IPM, Steam Digital & Services, GOGC, GT) and has dotted-line reporting responsibility for the Cotopaxi Finance Accountant.
- Optimizes team capabilities through performance reviews, development plans, succession planning, and talent promotion.
- Manages routine staff turnover and ensures talent continuity.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Planning & Analysis
- Owns budgets, forecasts, and associated processes for operational areas, ensuring alignment with Steam and Group strategy.
- Develops and prioritizes capital expenditure while optimizing cost efficiency globally.
- Supervises balance sheet forecasting and monthly performance reporting for management.
- Conducts variance analysis, financial monitoring, and commercial challenge to align business operations with budget commitments.
- Oversees weekly sales/order forecasting for Group reporting, ensuring robust justification for variations.
- Manages monthly management reporting, performance KPIs, and internal Group submissions.
- Streamlines balance sheet reconciliations across reporting areas and optimizes monthly financial processes.
- Supports tax-related filings, such as annual R&D claims, coordinating with Group Tax.
2. Global Financial Governance & Implementation
- Consolidates and drives financial discipline across central, divisional, and operating company (opco) budgets.
- Provides governance, financial controls, and Strategic guidance for investment candid proposals.
- Leads financial planning and analysis enhancements across divisions, with data-driven recommendations for decision-making.
3. Financial Modelling & Project Management
- Develops, maintains, and refines forecasting models for strategic decision-making, including:
- Business and project scenario simulations
- Capital and operational expenditure tracking
- Sensitivity and risk analysis
- Ensures capital and operational expenditures are aligned with budgets and strategic goals.
- Monitors project performance and provides informed reporting for better decision-making.

4. Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication
- Builds strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, promoting the Central Finance team.
- Works closely with Operational Heads to provide financial insights, support budget control, and enhance revenue growth.
- Liaises with Group Legal, Group Tax, Supply & Sales OpCos, facilitating cross-organizational projects.
- Prepares financial reports and presentations for senior management and key stakeholders.
- Supports royalty and recharge processes, coordinating with Sales, Financial Reporting, and OpCos.
- Ensures consistent, accurate management accounts and capital expenditure scheduling adherence to accounting policies.
- Promotes staff and cross-functional collaboration for streamlined reporting.
5. Ad-Hoc Financial Projects & Support
- Assists in audit requests and supporting ad-hoc financial tasks for Finance leadership.
- Resolves complex financial queries and optimizes internal financial processes.
Qualifications and Skills
Education & Experience
- Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, or ACA).
- Substantial post-qualification experience in finance departments of commercial corporations, preferably in a multinational environment.
- Proven ability to deliver market-leading financial analysis in global teams.
Technical Skills
- Analytical & Critical Thinking: Interprets complex financial data to identify trends and propose remedies.
- Financial Acumen: Expertise in forecasting, valuation, and expenditure management.
- Problem-Solving: Identifies inefficiencies and develops cost-effective solutions.
- Adaptability: Thrives in dynamic environments and embraces changing business demands.
- Financial Software Skills: Advanced Excel proficiency, financial modeling, and general accounting software knowledge.
