About the role
Reporting to the Finance Director, the Finance Business Partner & FP&A Manager is a senior finance role responsible for driving Node4’s group-wide budgeting and forecasting processes and for providing high-quality financial planning and analysis (FP&A) across the group. The role acts as a trusted business partner to the heads of Node4’s central functions, owns the group’s three-year plan (3YP) forecasting model, and delivers cross-group analysis that informs strategic and operational decision-making at the most senior levels of the business.
Key Responsibilities
Group budgeting & forecasting
- Lead, coordinate and run the group-wide annual budgeting process end to end, working with budget holders across the business to build robust, well-supported plans.
- Own the periodic reforecasting cycle, ensuring forecasts are timely, accurate and clearly reconciled to budget and prior forecasts.
- Establish and maintain consistent planning templates, timetables, assumptions and governance so that budgeting and forecasting run efficiently across all group entities.
- Consolidate group submissions, challenge inputs constructively, and present clear variance analysis and commentary to the Finance Director and CFO.
Business partnering to central functions
- Act as the primary finance business partner to the heads of the group’s central functions, building strong, trusted working relationships.
- Support function heads in managing their cost bases, understanding financial performance, and making well-informed decisions on spend and investment.
- Translate financial information into clear, actionable insight for non-finance stakeholders, and hold constructive challenge on performance against budget and forecast.
- Support business cases, headcount planning and investment appraisals for central functions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
