About the Role

As one of the world's largest networks of audit, tax and consulting firms, RSM delivers big ideas and premium service to help middle-market businesses thrive. We are a fast-growing firm with big ambitions, striving towards our goal of becoming the premium adviser to the middle market, globally. We are seeking a Finance Business Partner (Assistant Manager) to join our Commercial Finance team as part of the internal National Finance Office, based in our Preston office.

The purpose of this role is to support the delivery of premium finance business partnering across the business. You will develop strong relationships with finance business partners and stakeholders, providing reliable financial insights, robust analysis, and practical support while also contributing to the growth of junior colleagues through coaching, guidance, and mentorship.

  • Collaborating closely with the Finance Business Partner(s) to analyse financial performance, explain variances, identify risks and opportunities, and agree appropriate actions
  • Communicating financial information clearly, professionally and confidently, both in writing and verbally, while adapting delivery to suit the audience’s needs
  • Supporting annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes, ensuring assumptions are robust and clearly understood
  • Contributing to scenario modelling and financial analysis to inform investment and operational decisions
  • Directly managing junior team members, setting clear goals, conducting regular check-ins, and delivering one-on-one performance appraisals to evaluate progress, address underperformance, and provide constructive feedback

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
