Finance Business Partner
Finance Business Partner
We are seeking a Finance Business Partner to support financial planning, cost control, and commercial decision-making across our Central Functions.
About the Role
This role plays a key part in driving financial discipline, transparency, and accountability across the organisation, working closely with Department Heads and key stakeholders.
The position entails ownership of central cost bases, including budgeting, forecasting, spend oversight, and financial controls, alongside responsibility for strengthening processes such as purchase order (PO) governance and invoice approvals.
The role will also support oversight of CapEx and project-related spend and performance monitoring, partnering with FP&A and Finance teams to ensure strong financial management of a growing investment portfolio.
The role can be based in our Birmingham or London office, with a hybrid workstyle.
Responsibilities
Business Partnering
- Act as the primary Finance Business Partner for Central Functions, supporting Department Heads across areas such as HR, IT, Marketing, Legal, and Operations.
- Build effective relationships to provide insight, guidance, and constructive challenge.
- Support stakeholders in managing budgets and understanding financial performance.
Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting
- Support delivery of the annual budget, forecasts, and planning cycles for Central Functions.
- Provide visibility on cost drivers, trends, and risks.
- Assist with scenario analysis to support decision-making and cost optimisation.
Cost Control & Spend Management
- Monitor and track functional cost performance against budget.
- Support robust cost control through:
- Invoice review and approval processes
- Supplier spend tracking
- Variance analysis and explanation
- Ensuring adherence to financial policies and controls.

PO Process & Financial Governance
- Support the development and embedding of an effective Purchase Order (PO) process.
- Work with Procurement and Finance to:
- Improve spend visibility and approval controls.
- Strengthen governance and compliance.
- Enhance efficiency of invoice and supplier processes.
CapEx & Project Support
- Support tracking and oversight of CapEx and project-related spend.
- Work with project owners to:
- Monitor budgets vs. actuals.
- Maintain clear financial tracking.
- Ensure appropriate approvals and controls are in place.
- Improve visibility of investment performance.
Reporting & Insight
- Produce and support monthly reporting and analysis for Central Functions.
- Translate financial data into clear, practical insights for stakeholders.
- Support improvements in reporting tools and processes (e.g., Power BI).
Collaboration
- Work closely with:
- FP&A team on planning and analysis.
- Finance/Controllership on accounting and governance.
- Procurement on supplier and spend processes.
- Act as a key link between finance and central departments.
Requirements
- Fully or part-qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent).
- Experience in FP&A, management accounting, or business partnering roles.
- Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
- Exposure to financial processes (e.g., PO, procurement, spend controls) desirable.
- Experience supporting non-financial stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Proactive, organised, and detail-oriented.
