Department: Central Finance
Reports To: Head of Finance, Steam Thermal Solutions (STS)
About the Role
The Finance Business Partner will act as a key strategic advisor, developing and implementing financial strategies aligned with Steam Thermal Solutions' (STS) and Group goals, with a focus on driving global operational efficiency, investment prioritisation, and performance optimisation.
The role owners forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis for:
- Innovation & Product Development (IPM)
- Steam Digital & Services
- Global Oil, Gas & Chemicals (GOGC)
- Sustainability/Green Tech (GT)
Direct Reports:
- Management Accountants for IPM, Steam Digital & Services, GOGC, and GT (Dotted line accountability for Cotopaxi Finance Accountant)
Key Responsibilities
1. Line Management
- Guide and develop direct reports (MFAs) to achieve KPIs and enhance team capabilities, including:
- Performance reviews & development planning
- Succession planning & talent retention
- Talent development & mentorship
2. Financial Planning & Analysis
- Budget & Forecast Ownership
- Develop accurate, efficient and transparent financial forecasts aligned with business strategy, with rigorous variance analysis.
- Optimise costs and capital allocation for global operational alignment. Oversee balance sheet reconciliations for management reporting.
- Order/Sales Forecast Oversight
- Validate weekly forecasts, ensuring robust and actionable variance analysis with stakeholders.
- Review monthly management reports & KPIs (internal: **Group reporting; external: Budget vs. Actuals).
- Tax & Compliance Support
- Manage R&D tax claims and liaise with Group Tax functions.
- Global Budget Consolidation
- Ensure rigorous governance and reporting for central, divisional, and opco budgets; provide cross-Steam support for business cases and financial reporting.

3. Financial Modelling & Project Tracking
- Build, refine and maintain financial models for scenario analysis, CAPEX/OPEX tracking, and project evaluation (including partial regulation & CAPEX group fairness).
- Monitor all projects (BPA & Construction) against strategic spending controls and risk mitigation.
4. Stakeholder & Collaboration
- Internal/External Stakeholder Liaison
- Strengthen relationships with operational heads, Group Legal, Group Tax, Supply & Sales OpCos.
- Collaborate with Financial Reporting to support insolvency recharges across business areas.
- Analytics & Decision Support
- Provide data-driven insights for capital prioritisation, revenue growth, and commercial decisions.
- Support Sales and Supply Divisions on royalty & recharge modelling.
5. Management Reporting & Audit Support
- Ensure consistent deployment of financial judgement and accurate reporting (including intercompany adjustments).
- Ad-hoc Finance Support during audits/interim issues or leadership tasks.
Qualifications & Experience Required
Professional Background
- Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA).
- Post-qualification experience in a commercial multinationals’ triple-layer finance model (central finance/regional consolidationdivisional/opco).
- Ability to *demonstrate market-aligned Commercial Excellence in a diverse environment.
Key Skills
Analytical & Technical
- Strong financial acumen in forecasting, consolidation, and balance sheet reconciliation.
- Problem-solving & adaptability with sensitivity analysis skills.
- Proficiency in advanced Excel, financial modelling & accounting software.
Communication & Leadership
- Clear, concise communication of complex finance to non-financial stakeholders & across geographies.
- Stakeholder management experience with senior leadership.
- Understanding of global finance polis, dividend economics and company wellness principles.
