Working for one of Alten Group subsidiaries. Due to ongoing expansion, Alten Ltd is looking for a Finance Business Partner to join our Finance team in London. This is a fantastic chance to join a fast-growing company with strong core values of Excellence, Accountability, Integrity, and Service.

Main duties and responsibilities

We are looking for a proactive and analytical Finance Business Partner to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong financial acumen, excellent communication skills, and a continuous improvement mindset. The position offers exposure to all business functions as well as access to the main decision makers.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Partnering & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Act as a strategic partner to business and operational leaders, translating complex financial data into meaningful business insights.
  • Lead financial and margin review meetings, support business units with financial planning, and present findings clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Help bridge the gap between finance and operations to drive data-based decision-making.

Financial Analysis & Reporting:

  • Perform thorough analysis of client and project costs, profitability, and margins to identify key financial drivers and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare and ensure the timely and accurate delivery of monthly financial statements, forecasts, and budgets in line with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Monitor financial performance, investigate variances, and provide insights that support business objectives.

Process Improvement & Risk Management:

  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities within the finance function to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Oversee key balance sheet items, including work-in-progress (WIP) and days sales outstanding (DSO), ensuring sound financial risk management.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve issues and support internal and external audit requirements.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or equivalent military experience.
  • Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft PowerBI and Microsoft Excel along with good mathematical literacy.
  • SAP experience is preferable but not essential.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Excellent reporting skills, being able to transform big sets of data into readable, designful reports.
  • Prior experience in accounting, financial reporting, and data analysis with a solid understanding of income statements, forecasting, and balance sheet analysis.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills with an open and energetic approach.
  • Ability to build relationships and to influence stakeholders of different levels of hierarchy.
