Role Overview
As a Finance Business Partner within our Maritime & Renewables business unit, you act as a trusted financial advisor to project managers and management in an international project-based consultancy environment. You contribute to the financial performance of a diverse portfolio of maritime and renewable energy projects through analysis, challenge and business partnering. The role offers broad exposure across tenders, project execution and portfolio management within a commercially driven international business.
About Haskoning And The Team
At Haskoning, you will join an independent, employee-owned international consultancy that combines engineering, design, and consultancy services with software and technology. Our mission, "Enhancing Society Together," drives us to create a positive impact on the world.
We offer purpose-driven and challenging work in diverse international projects, leveraging our 140+ years of expertise. With over 6,800 employees in more than 25 countries, we work together to turn challenges into opportunities and make a real impact on society.
You will be part of our Maritime & Renewables team within the Water & Maritime business line. Key responsibilities include:
- Act as a financial business partner to project managers throughout the project lifecycle. Provide independent analyses and support discussions through the Project Health Check methodology.
- Identify risks, trends and deviations through forward-looking analyses, and escalate relevant issues to management.
- Challenge proposal managers during tender and proposal phases on pricing, financial structure, cash flow, risk allocation, tax and currency aspects, especially for non-routine tenders.
- Support project teams in identifying opportunities to improve performance, enhance profitability and mitigate risks.
- Provide portfolio-level financial and operational analyses on project results, working capital, workload, capacity and overall performance.
- Prepare regular and ad-hoc reports to support decision-making.
- Build strong relationships with project managers, business leaders and other stakeholders across the organisation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
