Senior Finance Systems Manager
We are looking for an experienced senior leader to take strategic ownership of our finance systems function. This role is accountable for the design, build, delivery and operational management of the systems that underpin our finance processes, ensuring they run efficiently while maintaining a robust financial control environment.
As the ultimate owner of finance systems, you will safeguard process design and controls in line with internal and external audit requirements, company policies, accounting standards and Delegation of Authority. You will partner cross-functionally to drive commercial support, lead a high-performing team, and deliver continuous improvement across finance systems and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the design, build and delivery of all finance systems, enabling business processes to operate efficiently while ensuring compliance with controls, regulation and audit requirements
- Act as the senior escalation point for complex systems issues, providing strategic guidance on resolution and leading sensitive discussions on design requirements, build and day-to-day operational compliance and efficiency
- Support relationship management with key stakeholders to maintain trust and integrity in the systems and the processes they support
- Take accountability for team Customer Satisfaction (CSAT) performance, ensuring service excellence and directly contributing to core business KPIs through continuous improvement and customer-centric leadership
- Maintain a high level of commercial and regulatory awareness, ensuring systems are adapted to support evolving legislation, industry practice, accounting standards and internal policy changes
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives, driving operational excellence and collaborating cross-functionally to optimise end-to-end processes and enhance efficiency
- Take accountability for successful system implementations and incident resolution, ensuring business continuity through robust issue tracking, root cause analysis and timely escalation with internal IT and external service providers
- Drive system integrity and process alignment to protect revenue and enhance operational resilience, including project management of design, implementation and testing
- Ensure system design meets business requirements and outcomes, with technical specifications delivered by the team for the business
- Lead change management activities, ensuring successful transitions from project delivery to business-as-usual operations and embedding new processes and systems
- Drive strategic and operational projects, providing analytical and executional support for business initiatives, performance management and issue resolution
- Ensure controls are appropriate and operating effectively, through liaison with and reporting to internal and external audit
- Ensure consistent and compliant change design through liaison with IT, developers, project managers and technical delivery teams
- Deliver efficient and effective operational tools holistically, through strategic journeys spanning multiple systems

Key Requirements

- Fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, CA or MAAT), or qualified by substantial experience, with up-to-date technical and process knowledge
- Proven project management credentials (PMI, APM or PRINCE2), or qualified by substantial experience
- Experience with large ERP solutions (preferably SAP and Coupa)
- Proven experience in senior finance systems management roles within large, complex organisations operating under robust compliance, governance and financial control framework
- Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards and financial processes, particularly revenue recognition, cashflow management, trade receivables, payables and supply chain
- Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage, challenge and build credibility at all levels of the organisation, including executive stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to identify and manage key stakeholders, driving alignment and consensus in cross-functional and strategic initiatives
- Track record of building effective partnerships across finance and non-finance functions, contributing to broader business objectives
- Experienced leader of high-performing teams, with a focus on mentoring, talent development and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insight and make informed, strategic decisions
- In-depth knowledge of project management and design-and-build practices, including credit risk assessment, collections strategies and end-to-end credit control processes
- Comprehensive understanding of security instruments and contractual credit terms, including letters of credit, guarantees and other collateral mechanisms
- Broad knowledge of contract and account management frameworks, with a focus on driving commercial value and mitigating risk
- Experience in designing, implementing and monitoring business and IT controls, ensuring a resilient control environment that meets audit and regulatory standards
