Role Overview

The role combines robust financial governance, hands-on leadership of an in-house finance team, and commercial insight, ensuring accurate reporting, strong internal controls, and high-quality support to operational and strategic decision-making.

Description

Financial Control & Compliance

  • Own financial controls, month/year-end close, balance sheet integrity, statutory accounts, VAT, corporation tax and audit management.

Management Reporting

  • Produce monthly management accounts, KPIs, forecasts and insightful variance analysis to support strategic decision-making.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Lead annual budgets and reforecasts, partnering with operational teams to challenge assumptions and improve cost control.

Commercial Finance

  • Deliver site profitability analysis, operational KPI reporting, pricing support, financial modelling, investment appraisals

Business Partnering

  • Partner with Finance Director and operational leaders to drive performance, improve profitability and support commercial decisions.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and develop the finance team, ensuring accurate delivery of transactional finance, payroll support and strong financial governance.

Cash Flow & Working Capital

  • Manage cash flow, optimise working capital, oversee receivables/payables and support funding requirements.

  • Drive continuous improvement across finance systems, reporting automation, controls and finance transformation initiatives.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build strong relationships with auditors, banks, tax advisors and senior stakeholders across finance, operations and commercial teams.

Profile

A successful Finance Controller should have:

  • A professional accounting qualification, such as ACA, ACCA, or CIMA.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and reporting standards.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage and develop a high-performing team.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
