Role: Finance Data & Systems Optimisation Manager

This role leads initiatives to improve how Finance manages, accesses, and uses its data and systems. With responsibility across the finance function, the Finance Data & Systems Optimisation Manager identifies and delivers improvements in reporting, data accessibility, and system effectiveness.

The role blends strategic project management with hands-on technical work to create sustainable, high-impact solutions that enable Finance to automate and deliver timely, accurate, and insightful information.


Key Responsibilities

Digital Project Management & Implementation

  • Lead and manage initiatives to enhance Finance’s data accessibility, reporting capabilities, and systems utilization through:
    • Programme roadmap ownership
    • Milestone tracking
    • Benefits realisation reporting
  • Drive data discovery activities to establish lineage, identify sources, flows, and dependencies, then prioritise reporting and system use cases
  • Work as a liaison between Finance and IT Data Teams:
    • Support scoping of Data Lake use cases
    • Conduct citizen development and testing within sandbox environments
  • Define requirements for data transformation, consolidation, and quality checks to ensure accuracy and integrity
  • Utilise company tools (e.g., Microsoft Power Platform) to deliver immediate reporting improvements via citizen-developed solutions
  • Oversee technical developments (e.g., via internal/offshore teams) ensuring technical designs align with business requirements and are scalable and fit for purpose

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Proactively identify data and reporting optimisation opportunities through:
    • Workshops
    • Discovery sessions
    • Collaborative stakeholder engagement
    • Contributions to a broader pipeline of initiatives
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders on:
    • Project objectives
    • Risks and progress
    • Translating complex data/systems concepts into accessible language
  • Maintain engagement with global end-users, ensuring outputs are:
    • Practical
    • Understood
    • Fully adopted

Technical Expertise, Governance & Support

  • Maintain and develop knowledge of data modelling, transformation, and dashboard/reporting solutions relevant to Finance operations, including:
    • Microsoft Power Platform
    • SAP data structures
    • Cloud-based platforms (e.g., Snowflake)
  • Evaluate and recommend system configuration changes, integrations, or tools to improve data management, including:
    • Data Lake integration
    • Leverage of IT-managed environments for Finance
  • Leverage AI tools by:
    • Staying aware of emerging capabilities
    • Collaborating with IT & Digital AI teams to explore/undefined>
  • About the Role

Requirements

Knowledge

  • Experience assessing, executing, and documenting digital transformation business opportunities
  • Broad experience in developing and implementing automation and digitalisation initiatives within global finance teams
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including cross-functional/cross-regional relationship management
  • Genuine curiosity for technology with a proven ability to quickly learn new tools/platforms
  • Exceptional analytical skills to challenge existing processes and drive value creation
  • Bachelor’s degree in one of the following (or equivalent practical experience):
    • Finance
    • Data Analytics
    • Information Systems
    • Related field
  • A Master’s degree is an advantage
  • Certification in business intelligence (BI) or data visualisation is desirable
  • Qualified/Part Qualified Accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is advantageous

Experience

  • Minimum of 3+ years in finance data analysis, reporting, and/or systems optimisation within an international environment
  • Proven track record of:
    • Improving reporting practices
    • Automating data preparation
    • Enhancing system performance
  • Hands-on experience with reporting/data integration tools
  • Experience in cross-functional/cross-regional stakeholder management
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • SAP ECC/S/4HANA
    • Snowflake
    • Workday
    • Microsoft Power Platform

  • Adaptable and organised with experience in international/multi-entity project delivery
  • Flexible and resilient, adopting a positive "can-do" approach in a dynamic environment while staying composed under pressure
  • Effective problem solver with a curiosity to understand business challenges and drive value creation
