Finance Director
Location: Hybrid / Sevenoaks office Salary: £80,000 - £100,000 plus bonus
About the Role
Rev & Regs are recruiting for a Finance Director position at a well-established and reputable law firm in Sevenoaks. Known for their friendly and warm team, this is one of the most highly regarded firms in the area.
This is a senior leadership role offering the opportunity to:
- Shape the firm’s financial strategy
- Lead a high-performing finance team
- Contribute directly to the continued growth and success of the business
The Finance Director will report to the Partners and work closely with the Management Board, responsible for:
- The overall management of the firm’s finance function
- Ensuring regulatory compliance
- Delivering strategic financial insight
- Driving operational excellence
Responsibilities
- Management of the Finance Team: Oversee all financial operations, including:
- Accounts management – Client and office accounting, compliance with Solicitors’ Accounts Rules (SAR)
- Bank reconciliation, petty cash, purchase ledger, payroll, VAT returns, and treasury management
- Weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial reporting to Partners
- Budgeting and financial planning

Financial Systems Leadership:
- Responsibility for financial systems and ensuring their efficient use across the firm
- Partnership with Head of Operational Risk & Compliance in managing professional indemnity (PI) insurance renewals and general office insurance

Cash Flow & Credit Management:
- Credit control, work in progress (WIP) management, cash flow monitoring, and setting financial targets

Final Accounts & Stakeholder Relations:
- Preparation of the firm’s final accounts
- Maintaining relationships with bankers, insurers (PI), and accountants
- Managing records for partner balances, capital accounts, and taxation reserves

Partner-Related Finance:
- Calculating partner drawings
- Liaising with partner accountants to ensure correct taxation provision and payment

Strategic Engagement:
- Either attending the Firm’s Management Board meetings directly or collaborating closely with its leadership on financial governance topics
Experience Required
- Deep understanding of Solicitors’ Accounts Rules (SAR)
- Previous experience running an accounts department in a law firm
- Membership of a recognised accountancy body (preferably ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)
- Proficiency in Excel, competency in MS Word and Outlook
- Strong communication skills, organisation, ability to prioritise work and maintain meticulous attention to detail
- Capacity to identify training and development needs of supervisory team members
