Finance Director

Department: Finance Employment Type: Permanent - Full-Time Location: Halifax (flexible with remote work between Halifax, Leeds, Manchester or Cambridge, including travel between offices)

About the Role

We’re seeking a commercially driven Finance Director to collaborate closely with the CEO and Partnership, shaping financial strategy and modernising the firm’s approach through data, insight, and performance analytics to accelerate growth.

This is a high-impact, strategic role, focused on driving financial performance, empowering data-driven decision-making, and evolving the finance function to support an agile, forward-thinking business.


Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the CEO and leadership team to shape and execute firm strategy
  • Lead financial planning, forecasting, and performance insights to inform strategic decisions
  • Drive commercial decision-making using data-led analysis
  • Build, develop, and lead a high-performing finance team
  • Overhaul and optimise systems, processes, and financial controls
  • Deliver transparent, actionable reporting across KPIs, profitability, and cash flow
  • Manage and cultivate external stakeholder relationships (auditors, banks, advisors)
  • Oversee budgeting, audit, tax, payroll, and compliance
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements, margin growth, and operational optimisation

Requirements

Skills & Experience

  • Established Finance Director or a Head of Finance with orpportunity to step into leadership
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
  • Preferable experience in professional services, particularly legal/IP sectors
  • Proven track record in transforming finance functions, systems, and processes
  • Ability to enhance financial reporting and decision-making frameworks
  • Strong influence skills for engaging with senior stakeholders and leadership
