About the Role
Marks Sattin Executive Search is assisting a private equity-backed, international B2B services business in their search for an experienced Finance Director. This is a high-impact leadership position designed to lead and develop the finance function as the organisation scales globally.
reporting forecast accuracy liquidity management, the Finance Director will collaborate with CEO and senior leadership to deliver holistic financial oversight. Key responsibilities include:
- Improving board and investor reporting to private equity standards
- Strengthening financial controls, forecasting, and management information
- Modernising legacy systems currently reliant on manual spreadsheet-based processes
- Enhancing scalability with a focus on international operations
The role presents a unique opportunity for an exceptional Financial Controller ready to step into an FD function, provided they have a suite of management leadership and scalability experiences in their CV.
Core Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be tasked with:
- Strategic Financial Leadership:
- Translating business objectives into robust, data-driven financial plans
- Providing real-time financial intelligence to support decision-making
- Ensuring liquidity management, risk mitigation, and cash-flow control across the group

Private Equity Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Ensuring board and investor transparency with accurate, predictive reporting
- Bridging the gap between operational teams and senior stakeholders (including PE partners)
- Aligning financial strategy with long-term investor value creation

Finance Function Transformation:
- Professionalising processes, systems, and reporting (currently spreadsheet-dependent)
- Scaling the finance team via clear governance, data-driven controls, and automation
- Implementing financial planning systems to support decision-making and growth

Operational Excellence:
- Evaluating and upgrading cost structures, efficiency measures, and profitability metrics
- Monitoring project-based revenues and long-term customer contract KPIs
Key Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified accountant (strong preference for ACA/ACCA/ACMA)
- 5+ years’ experience in a Finance Director/Financial Controller role, with
- Private equity (PE) or PE-backed services experience preferred
- Demonstrable experience in B2B, professional services, or people-based businesses
Technical & Functional Expertise
- Proven track record of initiating and managing finance function transformation:
- Optimising reporting, controls, and management information
- Leading system upgrades (e.g., financial planning tools, ERP migration)
- Streamlining utilisation metrics, budgeting, forecasting accuracy
- Strong analytical capabilities, with experience in financial modelling, cash-flow forecasting, and ROI analysis
- Deep understanding of investor and board requirements (including capital allocation, valuation narratives)

Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Ability to influence senior leaders and investors effectively (gravitas + commercial acumen)
- Change leadership — experience in blending execute, engage, and lead across teams across geographically dispersed operations
- Innovative problem-solver with the confidence to tackle sequential and parallel challenges to accelerate growth
Preferences
- Experience working in international or multi-region environments (Northeast Asia, Europe, Americas markets encouraged)
- Familiarity with utilisation-based pricing, contract-based revenues, and long-term customer relations reporting
