Reports to: Finance Manager
Location: Manchester (hybrid, 2 days per week in the office)
Type: Full-time, permanent, with full study support
About the Role
We are a fast-growing consumer goods business operating across Amazon FBA, DTC (Shopify) and B2B retail channels. This is a rare opportunity for an ambitious graduate to start their career at the heart of a scaling finance function, with real ownership from day one and a clear path to qualification.
You will begin by taking ownership of our accounts payable and accounts receivable processes. This is deliberate. AP and AR underpin the entire P&L, so mastering them is the fastest way to understand how the whole business really works: where the money comes from, where it goes, and why. From this foundation you will broaden into month-end, reconciliations and wider finance as you grow.
You will report to the Finance Manager, who will develop you day to day. In a lean team you will not be a spare pair of hands. You will own real processes, and your work will be visible and valued across the business.
What You'll Do
Accounts Payable & Receivable (your foundation)
- Own the day-to-day processing of supplier invoices, ensuring they are coded, approved and paid accurately and on time.
- Maintain a clean, well-reconciled purchase ledger and resolve supplier queries.
- Raise and issue sales invoices, and monitor the debtor book.
- Support credit control and collections, chasing overdue accounts and helping keep overdue exposure down.
- Reconcile supplier statements and customer accounts, investigating and resolving differences.
Growing Into (as you develop)
- Bank reconciliations and control account reconciliations.
- Supporting the month-end close, including accruals, prepayments and journals.
- Helping maintain records that feed VAT and cash flow reporting.
- Ad hoc analysis and finance projects as the team scales.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Every day your agent scans the market matching roles against what actually matters to you, not just keywords on a CV.
Why you're a good match
You’ve got the grades and the economics background, and your bank internship is exactly the experience this scheme looks for. Apply soon — deadlines close within the month.
Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
What We Offer
- Full study support towards a professional qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA; we're open to the right path for you), including funding and study leave.
- Genuine, hands-on ownership from the start, not photocopying and filing.
- Close mentoring from an experienced Finance Manager and Finance Director.
- A front-row seat in a fast-growing, multi-channel consumer business, with the breadth of experience that a lean, scaling team gives you.
- A clear path to grow as the finance function grows around you.
What We're Looking For
We are hiring for attitude and potential over experience. If you are bright, driven and want to learn, we want to hear from you.
Essential
- A degree (any discipline; a numerate or finance-related degree is a plus but not required).
- Genuine ambition to qualify as an accountant and build a finance career.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical, accurate approach to work.
- Comfortable with numbers and confident in Excel (or a fast learner).
- A proactive, can-do attitude, willing to ask questions, take ownership and get stuck in.
- Good communication skills, with the confidence to deal with suppliers and customers.
Desirable
- Some prior finance exposure (placement year, internship or ~1 year in a finance role).
- Familiarity with accounting software (e.g. Xero) or a demonstrable aptitude to pick up new systems quickly.
- An interest in e-commerce, consumer goods or fast-growing businesses.
Why This Role Is a Great Start
Most graduate finance roles put you in one narrow corner of a large team. Here, you will own processes that touch the whole P&L, learn directly from senior finance leaders, and gain the kind of end-to-end understanding that takes years to acquire in a bigger organisation. Get this right, and you will grow as fast as the business does.

Our values? Own it - Raise The Bar - Back Each Other - Give It a Go.
We're looking for someone who owns their work without being chased, takes responsibility when things don't go to plan and follows through on what they say. Someone who holds themselves to a high standard, makes calculated decisions and isn't afraid to push back when something isn't good enough.
Someone who backs their colleagues, gives honest feedback and makes the people around them better.
And someone who's willing to give new things a go; who moves fast, learns from what doesn't land and brings ideas to the table even when they're not sure they'll work.
Most importantly, you’ll care deeply about understanding customers and communicating with them in a way that is useful, authentic and impactful.
