Job Description
Supports the Finance Manager and Team in the effective running of the Business Unit. Proactively performs and manages finance and administrative activities, enabling the office to run efficiently and effectively. The role offers exposure to management accounts, consolidation and reporting, tax and audit, and encourages innovation through the use of AI and digital tools. All activities and decisions are made in accordance with our Quartz principles, reflecting the group's business philosophy.
Key Objectives
- Ensure accurate and timely entry of financial data into company systems to support seamless financial operations.
- Provide reliable and consistent support to fellow finance team members, contributing to a collaborative and efficient work environment.
- Assist in the preparation and delivery of management accounts, consolidation and reporting, and support tax and audit processes.
- Assist in aligning business unit processes within our Group Philosophy, Internal Control, and Quality guidelines to ensure compliance and operational excellence.
Principal Responsibilities And Accountabilities
- Support the preparation and completion of monthly management accounts, consolidation, and reporting.
- Assist with tax computations, audit schedules, and statutory reporting.
- Provide consistent support to finance team members, addressing queries and assisting with tasks to promote teamwork and efficiency.
- Maintain and manage organised filing systems for financial documents to ensure compliance with record-keeping standards and facilitate easy access.
- Regularly review and update financial data entries to identify and correct discrepancies, ensuring the highest levels of accuracy.
- Collaborate with other departments to gather necessary financial information and support cross-functional projects.
- Participate in internal audits and control assessments to uphold compliance and identify areas for improvement.
- Contribute to the preparation of financial reports and statements by providing accurate data and support to senior finance staff.
- Assist in the training of new finance team members on data entry procedures and system usage to ensure consistency and accuracy.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes by ensuring all financial data is accurately recorded and reconciled.
- Explore and apply AI, automation, and digital tools to enhance finance processes, reporting, and analysis.

Person specification
Qualifications And Training
- Accounting and Finance background.
- Business, Economics or Finance related subjects at Degree level or equivalent qualification.
- Working towards a Professional Accounting qualification.

Technical skills and experience
- Good computer skills, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with Management Information systems and databases such as SAP.
- Experience or interest in data analytics, automation, and AI tools.
- Able to work effectively as part of a team whilst having the ability to work on own initiative.
- Good attention to detail to ensure that all documentation is accurate.
- Friendly and approachable manner, able to build and sustain relationships based on trust at all levels.
- Excellent customer service skills and a flexible approach to work.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate confidently and comfortably with management, staff, and external business contacts.
