Finance Improvement and Transformation Accountant

Daily rate: £Neg

Location: Hybrid, Birmingham Jewelry Quarter

Contract: 6 Month FTC

Working hours: M- F 9am to 5pm

Opus People Solutions are recruiting on behalf of a Regional Employers Organisation for the West Midlands based in Birmingham for a Finance Improvement and Transformation Accountant for a 6 month FTC. The role is demanding as it will involve working closely with the CFO as a genuine partner, helping them lead and coach the team, through resistance to change in the wider team and to address capacity and development needs.

Purpose of the Role

This is a hands-on role requiring someone who is equally comfortable preparing journals and reconciliations as they are redesigning processes and challenging existing ways of working. Working closely with the CFO, the successful candidate will maintain business-as-usual activities while delivering a programme of finance improvements, including process simplification, systems optimisation and strengthening financial controls.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
