Company Description
Zayo Europe’s journey has been guided by an aspirational vision for connectivity. Our founders were veterans of the companies that constructed the earliest backbone of the Internet. They understood that truly putting “the world” on the World Wide Web would require connections, lots of them. Zayo formed in 2007 with Zayo Europe becoming a standalone company in 2024. We are now a market leader in operating and managing fibre networks.
About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented and tech-savvy intern to join the Zayo Europe Finance team during an exciting period of transformation. This is a dynamic, hands-on role where you will play a key part in modernising our operations. Your objectives will span across two critical areas: supporting a key data clean-up project and driving process improvement and automation across our core financial functions (including Billing, Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), Treasury Operations, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and Business Intelligence (BI). It is a fantastic opportunity to gain broad exposure to corporate finance operations and data strategy in a real business environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Process Mapping & Automation: Reviewing and documenting current manual tasks and workflows across Finance Operations. You will assist the team in identifying bottlenecks and building automated solutions (e.g., using advanced Excel, Power Query, or similar tools) to streamline repetitive tasks.
- Data Clean-up & System Preparation: Reviewing, categorising, cleansing, and standardising historical financial data to create a clean, consistent foundation for new system implementation and enhanced BI reporting. This work will ensure data accuracy and integrity while supporting compliance with increasingly stringent country-specific e-Invoicing requirements across the business.
- Data Quality & Validation: Identifying and flagging data gaps, running validation checks across multiple finance functions, and ensuring automated processes operate accurately.
- Documentation: Maintaining organised records and creating clear user guides and audit trails for newly implemented automated processes.
- Ad-hoc Cross-Functional Support: Collaborating with the broader Finance team to support queries and handle administrative tasks where needed.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
