Finance Manager
Finance Manager – Networks (Scotland)
Location: Glasgow
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive + Car/Car Allowance + Flexible Benefits
Freedom, part of the NG Bailey Group, a £500m turnover engineering services business, is seeking a Finance Manager (Networks) in their Scotland region. Operating in the electricity sector, Freedom Networks specialises in installation and maintenance services on distribution networks, with a current budgeted turnover of £160m and significant growth opportunities ahead.
This high-profile, diverse, and challenging role sits within the Freedom Networks Scotland team, reporting to the Head of Finance with regular engagement with senior leadership, including the Finance Director, Managing Director, and Operations Directors. The ideal candidate is analytically strong, commercially minded, and driven by financial discipline, with exposure to both networks operations and broader Freedom Group strategy.
Key Responsibilities
The Finance Manager will be responsible for:

Financial strategy & governance
- Provide high-quality financial and non-financial insights to support senior decision-making.
- Ensure full compliance with financial processes, controls, and governance.

Business performance & forecasting
- Support investment appraisals, track profitability, and monitor benefit realisation.
- Deliver ad-hoc financial analysis to drive operational efficiency.
- Manage P&L, forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis.
- Challenge forecasts and champion cashflow optimisation & margin improvement.

Reporting & internal collaboration
- Produce financial reports for senior leadership and the Group.
- Oversee working capital reporting, debtors, and revenue streams.
- Partner with finance and operational teams to improve governance and reporting.

Process improvement & innovation
- Leverage ERP and operational efficiencies to streamline systems.
- Transform contract accounting processes, where applicable.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Criteria
- A professional accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA, or ACA).
- Strong analytical and forward-thinking problem-solving ability.
- Aptitude for stakeholder influence and persuasive collaboration.
- Hands-on experience with Excel, data manipulation, and financial reporting.
- Proven ability to support non-financial teams with financial insights.
- A results-driven mindset with a focus on clear ownership and outcomes.
- Proactive attitude with initiative to improve processes.
- Ability to deliver under pressure with precision.
Desirable Criteria
- Prior contract accounting or energy/utility sector experience.
- Graduate-level degree (UK 2:2 equivalent or higher).
- Experience in improving reporting or management information (MI) structures.
- Understanding of and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusive leadership.
