Finance Manager
I'm working with a fast growing Birmingham based business looking for a qualified Finance Manager (ACA, ACCA or CIMA). Reporting to the Head of Finance, you'll own monthly management accounts, Board reporting commentary and balance sheet reviews, while strengthening the control environment and coaching the management accounting team. There's real breadth here too, from business partnering with site leaders to supporting systems development. A great step for someone wanting genuine visibility and influence early in their qualified career.

- Review monthly revenue and ensure accurate and timely production of monthly management accounts for final review and release by the Head of Finance.
- Responsibility for commentary and analysis of monthly and YTD results in the UK Finance Board report.
- Undertake detailed review of balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring all balances are appropriately substantiated with supporting schedules maintained for internal audit purposes.
- Maintain KPIs and provide financial commentary for inclusion within monthly performance reports.
- Support management accountants with preparation of year end statutory accounts.
- Liaise with internal and external auditors (planning and execution) and ensure all information requirements are met.
- Work with operational stakeholders and management accountants to streamline the financial revenue reporting process in line with industry regulatory reporting cycles.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
