Role Overview

As Finance Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the senior finance team by:

Key Responsibilities

  • Taking ownership of core finance operations
  • Delivering timely, accurate financial reporting
  • Driving improved financial performance across the business

Daily Tasks & Focus Areas:

  • Oversee month-end close activities, ensuring deadlines are met and outputs are reliable and insightful
  • Lead preparation of management accounts
  • Contribute to group reporting
  • Provide meaningful financial analysis, explaining performance and key variances
  • Strengthen financial controls, improve processes, and identify efficiency and cost-reduction opportunities
  • Work closely with operational teams, offering financial guidance and supporting commercial decision-making
  • Act as the key point of contact for external auditors during the year-end process
  • Support system developments
  • Ensure compliance with financial standards and internal policies

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and develop a small finance team, providing guidance, coaching, and support for high performance and continuous development

Requirements

You’ll need to succeed in this role if you have:

Qualifications & Experience

  • Fully-qualified accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in a Finance Manager or senior finance role within an engineering, construction, or manufacturing environment
  • Strong background in:
    • Financial reporting
    • Management accounts preparation
    • Audit processes

Key Skills

  • Experience improving financial controls, systems, and processes
  • Confidence in analysing financial data and explaining insights to non-financial stakeholders
  • Strong leadership skills, including managing or mentoring teams
  • Experience in systems development
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines
