- Mantle: Reimagines traditional defined benefit pensions administration and actuarial valuation software.
About the Role
The 3173 Group is a fast-growing software and professional services business in the defined benefit pensions industry, operating across the UK. With 20 years of experience, it is now a market-leading player in Trustee, Administration, Actuarial, Investment, and technology services for pension schemes.
The business has developed Mantle®, its own unique technology platform, for a competitive edge. Headquartered in Belfast, it operates offices across the UK.
In September 2022, 3173 received a significant investment from Synova, a leading growth investor, supporting its consolidation of market positions and future expansion in pensions and technology.
Due to continued growth, the company seeks a Finance Manager to oversee financial management for Dalriada Trustees, including P&L and balance sheet integrity, while leading complex client billing processes.
The role reports to the Group Financial Controller and will:
- Drive financial performance
- Improve processes
- Deliver valuable insights for decision-making
- Lead and develop a small finance team

Key Requirements:
- Qualified accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, or CIMA with post-qualification commercial experience)
- Proven Finance Manager (or equivalent) experience in a fast-paced commercial setting, ideally in professional services or complex billing sectors
- Leadership experience, including coaching and mentoring junior staff
- High-level Excel (advanced formulae, data modelling) and PowerPoint skills
- Strong commercial awareness with experience in financial reporting and KPIs
- Confident communicator, capable of influencing senior leadership and business partners
- Ability to drive process improvements and build high-performing teams

Responsibilities
Team & Financial Leadership
- Manage a small finance team (coaching, mentoring, career development)
- Lead monthly management accounts (revenue, expense, variance analysis)
- Prepare financial performance reports and board-level finance updates
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Assist in audited financial statements and support external auditors
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements
Client Billing & Revenue Management
- Lead complex billing processes, including time-based, fixed-fee, and milestone billing
- Ensure accurate revenue recognition and timely invoicing
- Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) and recoverability (monthly reconciliations)
Credit Control & Operations
- Oversee debtor management and credit control
- Support Group Financial Controller and CFO as needed
- Contribute to wider finance reporting across the Group
Minimum Requirements
✅ Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with post-qualification experience in a commercial role ✅ Finance Manager or equivalent experience, preferably in professional services or complex billing ✅ Administered accounting software (e.g., NetSuite) for sales, purchases, and nominal ledgers ✅ Expertise in complex billing models (e.g., time & materials, project-based) and revenue recognition principles ✅ Commercial mindset with experience reporting KPIs and profitability metrics ✅ Demands exactness, capability to work independently, and escalate issues when necessary ✅ Exceptional Excel and PowerPoint skills

Work Arrangements
📍 Locations: Hybrid (Belfast, Manchester, or Glasgow) ⏰ Hours: 37.5 hrs/week, Mon–Fri, with on-call availability when required
