Finance Manager
Finance Manager (Gatwick Airport Contract)

About the Role
Our Finance team at Costain is seeking a Finance Manager to play a commercially focused role reporting directly to the Senior Finance Manager for the Gatwick Airport contract.
This position requires:
- A can-do, flexible approach with strong deadlines accountability.
- Proficient use of finance systems to support business needs.
- Support for the monthly application process and collaborative engagement with other teams.
As part of the Integrated Gatwick Project Team ("Team Gatwick"), the successful candidate will work closely with colleagues from Costain and Gatwick Airport. Regular travel to Gatwick (approx. 3 days per week) will be mandatory.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Work with key staff and teams to ensure financial performance of the Gatwick contract.
- Manage project accounting, ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial/cost information.
- Prepare monthly financial reports for month-end processes.
- Conduct P&L and balance sheet reconciliations, as well as cash flow management.
- Oversee TEFA timesheet system, ensuring accurate cost capturing and policy adherence.
Supplier & Stakeholder Support
- Assist with Supplier payments, purchasers orders, goods receipt processing.
- Handle transactional queries supporting wider teams on the contract.

Reporting & Commercial Compliance
- Support monthly applications using financial/cost reports; resolve transactional queries.
- Manage E1 Finance system for internal/external compliance and reporting.
- Contribute to commercial objectives, delivering value for money and cost-effective project execution.
- Assist with internal and external audits.
Month-End Processes
- Prepare/process journals, accruals, and prepayments aligned with accounting policies.
- Review/examine all transactions; challenge discrepancies to ensure revenue/cost accuracy.
- Produce actual cost reports and assist with cost value reconciliations.
- Monitor financial performance support projects/tools.
Cash Management
-Manage sales invoicing and act as key stakeholder in cash collection activities.
Staff Costs & Charges
- Record & recharge staff costs (IT, company vehicles, mobile phones, training, etc.).
Compliance & Culture
- Adhere to Health, Safety & Environmental (QHSE) procedures.
- Uphold Costain financial procedures and company values.
Essential Requirements
- Excel proficiency – advanced spreadsheets/microsoft applications.
- Finance systems experience (financial & timesheet systems).
- Solid financial experience (qualifications desirable).
- Strong relational skills – collaboration, communication, stakeholder management.
- Ability to work under business constraints.

- Experience with NEC contracts & commercial procedures.
Qualifications (Essential)
- Possession of a degree, or alternatively:
- Newly qualified accountant (with a recognized professional body).
Hybrid Working
- Availability for on-site presence for ~3 days per week.
