Finance Manager
Finance Manager
Location: Halifax
Salary: circa £40,000 per annum | Full-Time | Monday to Friday
About the Opportunity
Our client, a well-established and respected charity in Halifax, needs a Finance Manager to join their senior leadership team. This is a compelling chance to drive financial strategy, ensure operational efficiency, and use your expertise to support a mission-critical organisation serving the local community.
You’ll report directly to the Chief Executive, leading the finance function with accountability for decision-making, compliance, and forward-looking reporting to sustain the charity’s impact.
The Role
With an oversight role across the charity’s financial operations, your leadership will create strong financial controls, improve reporting transparency, and maximise resource allocation to support lasting community benefit. Collaboration will span senior leaders, trustees, and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts, financial reports, and forecasting documents.
- Oversee the annual budgeting and financial planning cycle, shaping the charity’s financial roadmap.
- Monitor income, expenditure, and cash cycles for real-time insight and safeguarding.
- Manage day-to-day finance, including:
- Accounts purchase and sales ledgers
- Payroll oversight
- Bank reconciliations
- Lead year-end accounts preparation and interface with external auditors.
- Ensure compliance with charity accounting standards, financial regulations, and statutory deadlines.
- Deliver Board-ready financial reports for trustees and executive team members.
- Support funding applications through accurate financial data and reporting.
- Develop, refine, and implement financial controls, policies, and procedures.
- Drive process improvements in reporting and financial operations.

About You
Experience
- 3+ years in a Finance Manager or senior finance role (charity or not-for-profit not essential).
- Track record of compliance-led finance, with expertise in:
- Producing year-end accounts
- Navigating external audits
- Interpreting financial data
Qualifications
- Hold a recognised accounting qualification: AAT, ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or QBE (institution equivalency considered).
