Citadel Source is delighted to partner with an evolving Engineering business to support the recruitment of their new Finance Manager.

The client This business operates in the Engineering space, supporting the delivery of complex projects across the UK and internationally. With operations across multiple global markets, the business is involved across the full lifecycle of infrastructure delivery, from early-stage planning and cost control through to project delivery and programme management. The organisation is continuing to evolve and is currently undergoing a period of change and transformation, which brings a variety of exposure and opportunity, both now and for the future.

The role The Finance Manager will join a global organisation as part of the UK finance function. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you will manage a team of two Management Accountants and play a key role in delivering accurate, timely and insightful financial reporting across the UK business. It’s a broad and hands-on role covering UK management accounting, statutory compliance, group policy adherence and continuous improvement initiatives. You’ll also have the opportunity to support finance transformation projects across the wider group finance function. It’s a fantastic opportunity for a technically strong people manager to step into a role with ownership, visibility and influence within an evolving group environment.

About you We’re looking for a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA), with 3-5 years’ post-qualified experience gained within a large UK group or global organisation. You’ll have a strong technical grounding in management accounting and statutory reporting, alongside proven experience of leading teams and working in fast-paced, change-driven environments. You’ll be comfortable operating in the detail and at a higher strategic level, with attention to detail, sound judgement and strong communication skills. This is a role for someone proactive, adaptable and confident working with senior stakeholders, with a genuine interest in improving processes and mentoring junior colleagues.

As the Finance Manager, your role will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Line management and development of a team of 2 Management Accountants, supporting performance, progression and capability building
  • Ownership and delivery of the UK month-end management accounting close in line with group timetables
  • Preparation of accurate management accounts, including accruals, prepayments, provisions and other month-end adjustments
  • Maintenance of strong balance sheet control, including ownership of key reconciliations and accounting judgements
  • Delivery of high-quality management information, working closely with UK finance business partners to ensure issues are identified and resolved promptly
  • Management of external audit processes for UK subsidiaries
  • Preparation of statutory accounts for UK entities, supported by the Group financial control team
  • Support for corporate tax and treasury teams in the preparation of annual corporation tax returns
  • Ensuring compliance with group accounting policies and internal control frameworks
  • Driving continuous improvement across the close process, reporting outputs and financial control
  • Delivery of finance projects and wider group initiatives as required
