Company Overview

This is a confidential opportunity with the UK subsidiary of a Japanese global organization. The company operates primarily within the food and beverage sector and has established a stable business presence in the UK market. As part of its long-term growth strategy and organizational development, the company is seeking a high-potential finance professional who can eventually take on a leadership role within the finance function.

Background of the Role

The successful candidate will initially work closely with the current finance leader, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the business and finance operations. Over time, the individual will be expected to develop into a key leader of the finance organization, with a clear career path toward a future CFO position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of financial and management accounting
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes
  • Handle group reporting and consolidation packages for headquarters
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities
  • Monitor and manage cash flow
  • Strengthen financial controls and governance frameworks
  • Partner with business functions to support performance management and decision-making
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements
  • Take on future leadership responsibilities for the finance function and team management

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Strong experience in both financial accounting and management accounting
  • Solid knowledge and practical experience with UK accounting standards
  • Experience in group reporting and consolidation reporting to headquarters
  • Ability to drive business improvements through financial insight and analysis
  • Experience implementing effective financial controls within complex organizations
  • Demonstrated leadership with the confidence to challenge inappropriate practices and drive positive change
  • Aspirations to progress into a CFO role in the future

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background within food, consumer goods, logistics, wholesale, or related industries
  • Experience working in multinational or multicultural environments
  • Business-level English and Japanese communication skills
