We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join our dynamic EMEA Accounting team in London.
This position will be focused on supporting the launches of some of Amazon's newest global business initiatives and the automation of underlying processes. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker who thrives in a fast-paced, complex environment. The position will require partnering with operational accounting, tax and business finance teams in developing strategic solutions to support our high growth rate through launch methodology design and training, leveraging existing and novel accounting tools used to support new launches and influencing design inputs to longer-term platform development.
Key job responsibilities
- Lead accounting project support for new product designs and financial system setups, ensuring appropriate business support and controllership.
- Deliver complex cross-functional projects, identifying and communicating risks to senior leadership with clear resolution recommendations.
- Execute large-scale process improvements for new business launches and existing processes, defining scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Develop and transition new processes for month-end activities, including general ledger close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting preparation.
- Establish and maintain strong communication channels with global accounting teams.
- Monitor and ensure quality of automated accounting entries, financial reporting processes, and controls.
- Work in a fast-paced environment, managing ambiguity and complexity while supporting multiple simultaneous project launches.
- Apply finance/accounting expertise to identify and incorporate necessary financial reporting elements into new business launches.
- Demonstrate solid understanding of computing system interactions and implement internal control elements to support new business activities.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, statistics or business, or a Bachelor's degree and experience in quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance)
- Experience in tax, finance or a related analytical field
- Experience in multiple finance and accounting roles
- Experience applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses
- Experience in building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making
- Experience in creating process improvements with automation and analysis
- Experience participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, or a CPA and experience in tax, finance or a related analytical field
- Knowledge of financial controls and procedures
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of SQL/ETL
- Experience in identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan
- Experience in solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits)
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
- Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results
- Experience in accounting management in Big Four with Fortune 500 clients, or experience in tax, finance or a related analytical field
- Experience working in a fast paced, quickly changing or international environment
- Knowledge of standard software including Excel, Access, Oracle, Essbase, SQL and VBA skills
- Experience using strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proven track record of sound decision making, taking ownership and delivering results in a leadership role
- Ability to dive deep into data, existing processes, people and technology challenges in order to identify issues and opportunities.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects.
- Track record of having earned the trust of a leadership team by challenging norms, upgrading team performance, enabling growth, and improving efficiency.
