Finance Manager - GB Gas

About the Role

An exciting Finance Manager opportunity has arisen within the TTEP Finance team, based in Leeds. This varied role focuses on delivering insightful financial performance analysis to support target achievement, identify value-driving opportunities, and assist the Head of Finance across various project-related activities.


Responsibilities

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare weekly gross margin estimates for trading team reviews.
  • Analyse and report monthly gross margin results for GB Gas Assets, adhering to accounting standards and delivery timescales.
  • Present performance analyses and collaborate with the Commercial Finance team to challenge the trading team.
  • Support finance cost managers in maintaining accounts, with a focus on balance sheet cash flow and reporting adjustments.
  • Develop management accounts and forecast models for new assets or organisational changes (e.g., lifetime extensions, acquisitions).
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations for accuracy and timeliness.
  • Assist with financial modelling and analysis as needed.

Forecasting & Budgeting

  • Contribute to monthly gross margin reforecasting, ensuring assumptions are evidence-based.
  • Support the Senior Commercial Finance Manager in assessing despatch decisions, helping refine trading strategies.
  • Consolidate gross margin and cost business plans, ensuring timely delivery.
  • Identify and evaluate risks and opportunities, facilitating sensitivity analysis.

Additional Reporting

  • Ensure accurate and timely group reporting for GB Gas assets.
  • Submit financial KPIs and prepare monthly ‘key issues’ packs.
  • Support West Burton B JV financial performance analysis.
  • Assist with audit coordination, tracking progress, and providing evidence.
  • Oversee external submissions (e.g., pensions, tax) for GB Gas.
  • Drive process improvements across GB Gas.
  • Support the central team in statutory account preparation.
  • Assist the Head of Finance with any additional reporting requirements.

Skills and Experience

  • Essential:

    • Previous experience in a comparable reporting finance role.
    • Expertise in handling large, complex datasets and financial models.
    • Advanced Excel skills, including model-building and data analysis.
    • Proficiency in accounting standards and their application.
    • Basic knowledge of UK taxation.
    • Experience in an energy, manufacturing, or production environment (desirable).
    • Experience with SAP (desirable).
  • Qualifications:

    • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) – essential.
    • Degree level or equivalent (desirable).
