Finance Manager – Financial Controls – Trading Accounts

In this role, you’ll be pivotal to ensuring that our corporate and business strategies are supported by the very best financial accounting and control processes—and that these processes continually maximise our profitability and efficiency.
As a Finance Manager within our Financial Control team, you will combine technical accounting with coaching, communication, influencing, leadership, and prioritisation skills to ensure that we maintain a strong control environment over one of our key Trading areas, and help the Traders/Buyers deliver their financial plan (Sales & GP).
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting & Control:
- Manage accurate and timely production of financial information for internal/external reporting, complying with group accounting policies and procedures
- Maintain a strong financial control environment
- Review financial performance on a monthly basis for Commercial Finance customers, including clear articulation of variances to plan/forecast

Risk Management & Process Improvement:
- Must have an awareness of risk management issues across a key Trading area, and lead cross-functional projects to enhance the control environment
- Advise Traders/Buyers and Commercial Finance teams on the risk and financial control implications of new business initiatives
- Review month-end balance sheet reconciliations
- Drive process improvement within the team

Team Leadership & Coaching:
- Manage a team comprising 1 qualified accountant and 1 trainee accountant
- Focus on coaching, developing, and empowering team members
- Allocate and manage team resources to deliver priorities effectively
Requirements
To excel in this role, you should have:
- Qualified Accountant with post-qualification experience (e.g., ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)
- A strong technical accounting background
- Leadership experience, including coaching and developing others
- Confidence in liaising with people at all levels
- Strong analytical skills and clear communication
- Ability to quickly prioritise and make informed decisions
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving, with the ability to challenge the status quo
