Role Overview

We are recruiting a Finance Manager to support the Head of Finance in overseeing the day-to-day finance function. This is a key role within the business, managing transactional teams while contributing to financial reporting, analysis, and strategic initiatives.

The position offers a blend of operational finance, team leadership, and commercial insight, with regular interaction across departments including production, IT, sales, and marketing.

Job Description

Finance Manager Responsibilities Include:

Financial Operations & Reporting

  • Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes
  • Prepare and post journals including accruals and prepayments
  • Support the production of management information and board packs
  • Assist with cash flow forecasting and financial reporting accuracy

Commercial Analysis

  • Deliver sales, margin, and customer profitability analysis
  • Support development of product and profitability reporting
  • Provide insights to aid business decision-making
  • Work closely with departmental heads to enhance financial reporting and ownership

Stock & Manufacturing Finance

  • Manage stock valuation and analysis
  • Support standard costing and production-related financial processes
  • Collaborate with production teams on performance and reporting improvements

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Manage a team of 3 direct and 2 indirect reports
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships across the business
  • Hold regular ledger review meetings and drive accountability
  • Support audit processes and respond to audit queries

  • Improve reporting accuracy, efficiency, and automation
  • Support integration of systems (including Sage and potential ERP upgrades)
  • Review and enhance existing financial models and reporting tools

Profile

The Successful Finance Manager Should Have:

  • Experience in Project Finance, including planning, monitoring, and reporting on complex projects (Advantageous)
  • Leadership or people management experience is required
  • A recognised accountancy qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
  • Experience in Manufacturing or engineering environments (desirable, not essential)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • A highly organised approach with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
