Finance Manager
Location: Hull (Office-based, full-time)
Contract: Initial 3-month contract with a strong likelihood of extension
Salary: Up to £75,000 per annum (pro rata), dependent on experience
Shillito Group is proud to be partnering with a well-established civil engineering business in Hull to recruit an experienced Finance Manager. This is a compelling opportunity for a confident finance professional who can confidently assess priorities, integrate seamlessly into a bustling environment, and make an swift and impactful contribution.
Reporting directly to the CFO, the Finance Manager will lead a team of three and take ownership of:
- The monthly finance function
- Cash flow management
- Departmental improvements
This role is ideal for those who thrive on streamlining processes, fostering team development, and organising a finance department undergoing transformation.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a finance team of three, providing daily support, coaching, and development.
- Oversee the monthly management accounts process, ensuring accuracy and timely financial reporting.
- Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital to sustain business operations.
- Deliver financial analysis and insights to assist with strategic decision-making.
- Identify and implement process improvements, enhancing efficiency and reinforcing financial controls.
- Assist the CFO with financial reporting and business performance analysis.
- Champion improvements across the department, implementing solid financial processes and adhering to best practices.
- Contribute to ongoing CRM project work. Experience in systems implementation or improvement would be a benefit.

Requirements:
The successful candidate will possess:
- ACCA or CIMA qualification.
- Proven experience in a Finance Manager or comparable senior finance role.
- Ability to quickly establish themselves and function with minimal supervision.
- A strong background in leadership, with a proven track record in managing, mentoring, and developing finance teams.
- Experience in monthly reporting, cash flow management, and financial analysis.
- Confidence in pinpointing inefficiencies and driving change in the finance function.
- Previous experience within engineering, construction, or a project-based business environment is advantageous.
- Familiarity with CRM or finance systems projects is desirable.
