Finance Manager
Finance Manager (Finance) – Networks Team
Location: Glasgow
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
About the Role
Due to sustained growth and strong future opportunities, Freedom – part of NG Bailey Group – is seeking a Finance Manager to join their Networks team in Scotland, specialising in finance for a distribution network services division (c. £160m budgeted turnover).
This critical role offers cross-functional exposure to senior management teams, drives financial discipline, and aligns performance with the Group’s vision. The Finance Manager will play a pivotal lead role, ensuring robust financial governance across operational units and proactively contributing to strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Analysis
- Provide high-quality financial and non-financial insights to support senior leadership in decision-making.
- Maintain financial compliance, processes, and governance standards.
- Support investment appraisals, track profitability benchmarks, and evaluate business-critical opportunities.
Performance Management
- Deliver ad-hoc financial analyses to optimise business performance, including margin improvement.
- Manage Profit & Loss (P&L) reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis.
- Lead cash flow optimisation, debtor planning, and working capital management.
Process Excellence & Collaboration
- Enhance ERP/operational efficiencies and drive process improvements.
- Partner with divisional finance teams to improve reporting, governance, and cash collection.
- Oversee and refine financial reporting for senior leadership and wider Group stakeholders.

Team & Stakeholder Engagement
Report directly to the Head of Finance (Freedom) with regular collaboration with:
- Finance Director, MD & Operations Directors
- Commercial and operational teams
Requirements
Essential
- Strong analytical mind with a forward-thinking approach to decision-making and problem-solving.
- Ability to influence teams and translate financial insights for non-financial stakeholders.
- Results-driven mentality: clear ownership, accountability, and a delivery focus.
- Proactive mindset with initiative to improve processes/operations.
- Advanced financial/Excel skills, with deep experience in data manipulation and reporting.
- Professional qualification: qualified in CIMA, ACCA, or ACA.
Desirable
- Experience in contract accounting.
- Track record of implementing/enhancing reporting or MI (Management Information) systems.
- University degree (2:2 or above) and flexible, adaptable thinking.
- Commitment to upholding business values/reputation.
