About Black Bull Biochar

Black Bull Biochar (BBB) is a growing UK company scaling the use of biochar, a carbon-rich material that improves soil health, livestock and crop resilience, all whilst removing carbon from the atmosphere. The company is entering an exciting expansion phase, growing its presence across Edinburgh, London, and Manchester, and building a team that will define the future of regenerative agriculture and carbon removal.

About The Role

We are looking for a financially sharp, hands-on professional who can take ownership of the finance function of a fast-growing agri-tech business. You are comfortable operating across both the detail and the bigger picture. You will need to hit the ground running, so whilst we will invest in your development, we need someone who brings genuine experience, enthusiasm and confidence from day one.

Key Responsibilities

We are looking for a specific type of entrepreneurial Finance Manager who can do the following:

  • Accounts payable & receivable
  • Cash flow management
  • Xero bookkeeping and bank reconciliations
  • Management of employee expenses and credit card reconciliations
  • Monthly management accounts preparation
  • Quarterly investor/shareholder finance packs
  • Budgeting and forecasting
  • Owning monthly payroll - coordinating with our external payroll accountant
  • VAT, PAYE and duty filings with HMRC
  • Loan servicing - repayment scheduling, interest calculations, covenant monitoring and compliance reporting
  • Supporting the management of grant-funded project finances - drawdown claims, spend tracking
  • Product costing and pricing analysis - unit economics, contribution margin modelling
  • Supporting future fundraising rounds and investor due diligence with financial data and schedules
  • Year-end accounts preparation in liaison with our external accountants

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
