Finance Manager
Lead Finance Manager – Bradford (£50,000 - £55,000 p.a.)
NHS Pension + Hybrid Working + Flexitime
About the Role
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Finance Manager to take complete ownership of the finance function within a successful medical practice.
Perfect for someone who thrives on autonomy, responsibility, and impactful decision-making, this role allows you to:
- Lead the finance function with full trust and scope
- Drive improvements in reporting, financial controls, and profitability transparency
- Ensure the practice operates on clear, actionable financial insight to fuel sustainability and growth

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership:
- Lead and develop a four-person finance team
- Oversee day-to-day operations and financial processes

Financial Reporting & Strategy:
- Produce accurate, timely, and meaningful management information for owners & leadership
- Improve reporting on profitability, margins, budgets, and performance
- Monitor performance vs. budget and advise on corrective or strategic actions
- Support long-term planning, forecasting, and decision-making

Stakeholder & Compliance:
- Manage relationships with external partners (e.g., accountants, banks, HMRC, NHS England)
- Ensure full financial control, compliance, and audit readiness

Process Improvement:
- Review existing processes for efficiency gains and scalability
- Identify opportunities to streamline operations

Communication & Culture:
- Translate financial data clearly to non-finance colleagues
- Foster a high-performing, accountable culture within the team
Ideal Experience & Skills
Essential
- Proven experience as a Finance Manager, Financial Controller, or Management Accountant
- Small-team leadership experience with ability to mentor and develop professionals
- Strong financial acumen including:
- Budgeting & cash flow management
- Performance reporting & forecasting
- Business facing financial analysis & trend-spotting
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with accounting systems and advanced Excel
- Ability to produce clear, impactful financial insights tailored to decision-makers
Nice to Have (advantages in this sector)
- NHS/healthcare experience (GP practices, medical charities, or NHS components).
- Familiarity with NHS funding models, ICB frameworks, and financial reporting is a plus.
- NHS pension scheme knowledge (or willingness to learning quickly).
