Finance Manager

Finance Manager / Financial Controller - Ballymena - £55000 - £65000 per annum

A well-established and growing manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Finance Manager / Financial Controller to join its leadership team. Operating within a fast-paced production environment, the company is continuing to invest in automation, operational efficiency, and long-term growth initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional to take ownership of the finance function and play a key role in supporting strategic decision-making.

Your new role

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will oversee the day-to-day finance function while providing commercial and strategic financial support across the business. You will be responsible for financial planning, cash flow management, business partnering, and supporting investment projects that drive operational improvements and growth.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the finance function, ensuring the delivery of accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Producing integrated financial forecasts, including P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash flow modelling to support business planning and decision-making.
  • Managing cash flow, working capital, and banking relationships to ensure the business is appropriately funded.
  • Supporting funding applications, lender reporting, and investment proposals for capital expenditure projects.
  • Partnering with operational and commercial teams to provide analysis on margins, profitability, pricing, and customer performance.
  • Supporting automation, production improvement, and operational efficiency projects through financial analysis and business case development.
  • Leading budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes.
  • Driving continuous improvement of finance processes, controls, and reporting capabilities.
  • Managing and developing finance team members to enhance performance and capability.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for this role, you will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with experience operating in a Finance Manager, Financial Controller, or senior finance position, ideally within a manufacturing or operationally focused business. You will also have:

  • Strong financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting experience.
  • Excellent financial modelling and analytical skills.
  • Experience managing cash flow, working capital, and banking relationships.
  • A commercial mindset with the ability to influence stakeholders across operations and sales functions.
  • Experience supporting business investment decisions and capital expenditure projects.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing or mentoring finance teams.
  • ERP system experience, ideally Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or a similar platform.
  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and evolving business environment.
