The Finance team is diverse, encompassing Business Partnering, Exchequer, Treasury, Pensions, and Major Projects.
About the Role
We are recruiting two Finance Officer positions:
- 1 full-time role (36 hours per week, 12-month fixed-term contract)
- 1 part-time role (21 hours per week, permanent)

Key Responsibilities
A proactive, detail-oriented Finance Officer will:
- Take ownership of accounts receivable and credit control, including ensuring timely debt collection.
- Maintain accurate sales ledger records.
- Optimise credit control procedures.
- Contribute towards the Council’s financial strategy.
- Support stakeholders in using limited financial resources.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks or opportunities.
- Generate reports from Oracle and peripheral systems for statutory monitoring and year-end reporting.
- Handle general finance and administration tasks, including:
- Managing shared folders and intranet pages.
- Filing bank statements.
- Raising purchase orders (POs), cheques, and manual payments.
- Conducting credit control chasing.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Preferably holds qualifications like CCAB, CIPFA, CIMA, or CFA, or completed ACT Foundations (Stage 1)
- Experience using Oracle ERP (desirable)
- Strong attention to detail, prioritisation skills, and stakeholder management
