We're looking for a Finance Operations Associate to help build and scale the finance function at Level Zero Health. Working closely with the leadership team, you will own day-to-day finance operations while developing the systems, processes, and reporting that enable the company to grow. This is an opportunity to have a broad impact across finance, operations, grants, and strategic planning in a fast-moving environment.
What You’ll Do
Finance operations
- Build and continuously improve internal finance systems, controls, and operational workflows
- Support month-end close, including expense reviews, reconciliations, and budget updates
- Coordinate payroll and pension administration with external providers
- Support purchase orders, supplier invoice, and payment processes
- Develop financial policies and ensure compliance with internal controls
- Maintain accurate financial records in collaboration with external accountants
- Prepare financial reporting for internal and external stakeholders

- Manage financial tracking for grant-funded projects across multiple funding sources
- Produce financial reports for grant applications and funded projects, ensuring compliance with funder requirements
- Work with R&D teams to build grant budgets and implementing monitoring processes
Cross functional collaboration
- Partner with the R&D team to streamline and improve specialised procurement processes
- Work with the operations team to design scalable finance processes as the company grows
What You Bring
Essential:
- Experience in financial reporting, FP&A, management accounting, project finance, or a similar analytical finance role
- Strong understanding of core accounting principles and financial processes
- Experience preparing budgets, forecasts, or financial analysis to support business decisions
- Proven ability to build and improve processes and identify opportunities for operational efficiency
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both finance and non-finance teams
- A proactive, hands-on approach and enthusiasm for building processes in a growing startup
- Curiosity about scientific research and a willingness to work closely with R&D teams to support their ways of working
Nice to have:
- Experience working in an early-stage startup or scale-up
- Experience managing grant funding or project finance, particularly in life sciences, biotech, or research
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline
- ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualification
