We are creating a new Finance Operations Manager role within the finance team—an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional to collaborate closely with the Head of Finance and senior leadership to:
- Strengthen day-to-day finance operations
- Improve processes
- Support new system implementation
- Build a scalable finance function for the future
Role Overview
This is not a traditional finance role limited to processing, reporting, or month-end work. We need someone who can:
- Dig deep into current processes
- Identify inefficiencies
- Implement stronger controls and more efficient workflows
In partnership with the Head of Finance, you’ll lead improvements across: ✔ Financial operations ✔ Commission processing & adviser payments ✔ Reconciliations ✔ Reporting ✔ Cash flow visibility ✔ Controls & internal workflows
The ideal candidate will be practical, hands-on, organised and capable of driving continuous enhancement within a fast-moving business environment.
Key Responsibilities
📊 Finance Operations
• Support and improve daily finance operations • Collaborate with the Head of Finance to enhance accuracy, efficiency and consistency • Oversee and refine critical financial workflows (commission processing, adviser payments, supplier payments, reconciliations and internal finance admin) • Ensure timely, accurate delivery of all finance activities • Streamline processes, build accountability and ** improve cross-departmental communication** • Identify bottlenecks and resolve recurring issues
🔧 Systems & Process Improvement
• Audit existing finance processes to reduce inefficiencies and enhance accuracy & controls • Support new system implementations, workflow optimisations and automated reporting tools • Eliminate manual processes, duplication and over-reliance on spreadsheets • Improve financial data capture, processing & reporting workflows • Document processes to ensure team-wide adoption • Align finance systems with broader business needs • Focus on building a scalable, automated and data-driven finance operation

🛡️ Controls, Reconciliations & Governance
• Strengthen financial controls across critical processes • Ensure accurate income recognition, supplier payments, adviser payments and reconciliations • Improve clawbacks, retention and commission management for risk mitigation • Enhance financial robustness aligns with a growing business • Audit processes to identify gaps and propose practical improvements • Support year-end reporting & external regulatory compliance needs
📊 Reporting & Insight
• Lead timely, accurate financial reporting • Strengthen management information, KPI & internal financial reporting • Provide data-driven analysis on performance, trends, risks, and opportunities • Support forecasting, budgeting & cash flow planning • Help the business understand revenue streams, firm performance, adviser margins and cost bases • Turn financial data into actionable insights for strategic decision-making
₿ Commercial & Business Support
• Work with the Head of Finance and senior leadership on business growth & operational optimisation • Contribute financial expertise to new initiatives & process changes • Assist with pricing, margin analysis & profitability reviews • Assess the financial impact of new systems, products, and partnerships • Bring a constructive challenge mindset to refine current ways of working
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a finance professional who thrives on improving systems and processes, with:
Essential Skills & Experience
• 5+ years’ experience in finance operations, financial management, or a controller role • Deep understanding of financial processes, reconciliations, controls & reporting • Hands-on experience in process improvement or financial systems optimisation • Comfortable working in dynamic environments where workflows are evolving • Attention to detail with a commitment to high accuracy standards • Ability to translate financial insights clearly for non-finance stakeholders • Proactive problem-solver who can recommend and drive solutions • Strong Excel and finance system literacy • Balanced ability to deliver day-to-day tasks while driving long-term improvements

Desirable Skills (Nice-to-Have)
• Prior experience in financial services, mortgages, insurance/protection, or commission-based models • Exposure to adviser payment processing, commission reconciliation, clawbacks & retention systems • Experience with finance system implementations, automation tools or reporting dashboards • Qualified accountant (Chartered/ACA), part-qualified or qualified by experience with relevant finance background • Familiarity with FCA regulations or heavily-regulated environments

Reporting Line
This role will report directly to the Head of Finance and collaborate with the Managing Director & CEO.
