Finance Operations Manager

6-Month FTC | Hybrid (4:1) | International Law Firm

Overview

A leading international law firm is seeking an experienced Finance Operations Manager to oversee the financial operations of its London office. This is a hands-on, visible role supporting partners, lawyers, and senior stakeholders, while coordinating closely with the wider finance team overseas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial operations – Lead day-to-day financial activity, ensuring compliance with firm policies and SRA rules.
  • Financial insight – Produce regular analysis, highlighting trends, risks, and performance opportunities.
  • Stakeholder partnership – Work with partners and lawyers to shape and deliver financial plans.
  • Billing & collections – Oversee billing processes and timely collections.
  • Cash flow oversight – Manage working capital and support operational liquidity.
  • Audit management – Coordinate internal and external audits, including the annual SRA audit.
  • Cross-border collaboration – Represent the London office in global finance initiatives and projects.
  • Regulatory support – Provide operational assistance to the COFA to maintain compliance.

Requirements

  • Professional qualification – Degree in accounting, finance, or related field; ACCA/ACA/CIMA is preferred.
  • Relevant experience – Background in a senior finance role within an international law firm environment.
  • System knowledge – Strong working knowledge of Elite 3E preferred.
  • Operational capability – Strong grounding in financial operations, controls, and regulatory compliance.
  • Stakeholder engagement – Confident communicator able to build trusted relationships across senior levels.
