Finance Manager - Innovation Portfolio

About the Role

This Finance Manager position is responsible for driving the financial health of Haleon’s innovation portfolio. By building robust business cases for new product launches and ensuring the innovation pipeline is financially strong, this role closely partners with R&D, Marketing and Supply Chain teams to ensure innovation initiatives are:

  • Financially sound
  • Strategically aligned
  • Supported by clear business cases

Key Responsibilities

Financial Modelling

  • Develop high-quality end-to-end business cases supporting go/no-go decisions, investment prioritisation, portfolio optimisation and successful innovation launches.
  • Conduct financial modelling, including:
    • Revenue forecasts
    • Margin analysis
    • ROI evaluations
    • Scenario planning
    • Sensitivity analysis
  • These ensure better investment decisions, stronger launches, and a more profitable innovation portfolio.

Target Setting

  • Review Innovation ABP submissions from markets.
  • Collaborate to ensure financial plans are robust and viable.

Market & Competitor Analysis

  • Evaluate:
    • Market size
    • Pricing dynamics
    • Competitive landscape
    • Customer economics Integrate insights into financial assumptions.

Portfolio and Pipeline Management/Governance

  • Maintain a clear view of the innovation pipeline.
  • Drive strong portfolio performance management across financial and strategic metrics.

Performance Tracking

  • Analyse ongoing performance of innovation initiatives to:
    • Identify variances
    • Recommend corrective actions
  • Improve forecasting accuracy and optimise the financial impact on the portfolio.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Validate assumptions with R&D, Marketing, and Supply Chain.
  • Refine concepts to ensure financial discipline and feasibility.
  • Work with Operating Units (OU’s) and markets to ensure robust business cases during product development to launch.

Portfolio Optimisation

  • Lead innovation pipeline reviews with stakeholders for each Brand/Category.
  • Support decisions on:
    • Resource allocation
    • Prioritisation
    • Long-term value creation

Executive Reporting & Insights

  • Prepare clear presentations/reports for senior leadership.
  • Analyze pipeline health to drive:
    • Optimisation
    • Portfolio value creation

Drive Technical Capability

  • Partner with the Technical Team to:
    • Close out system issues
    • Offer long-term solutions for innovation reporting capabilities

Qualifications & Skills

Essential:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in:
    • Finance, FP&A, and/or Finance Business Partnering.
    • Preferably within FMCG or complex, similar industries.
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • Work effectively with non-finance stakeholders.
    • Adapt communication style accordingly.
  • Strong technical finance capability:
    • Forecasting, ROI evaluation, strategic analysis.
  • Strategic, analytical thinker who can:
    • Challenge constructively
    • Simplify complexity
    • Communicate effectively with senior stakeholders and across functions.
  • Experience in complex, matrixed, global environments in FMCG.
    • Must be collaborative, proactive, and comfortable working independently in fast-paced settings.
  • Asset: Exposure to auditing, controlling, statutory accounting, and commercial spend management.
