We have exciting opportunities for undergraduate students looking to gain hands-on experience and develop their careers within an NHS Finance function. Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is seeking motivated students with a strong foundation in accounting and finance, along with essential IT skills, particularly in Excel, for a 12-month placement starting in August 2026.
Qualifications Required
To be eligible, you must be in your second year of undergraduate study and have a passion for pursuing a career in accounting and finance after graduation. Additional Responsibilities
- Providing support to senior team members in providing timely and accurate finance reports to service users and budget holders.
- Assisting in the completion of budget, balance sheet and transactional reconciliations.
- Acting as the initial contact point within the team for queries from service providers and budget holders, as well external stakeholders.
- Undertaking project work and ad-hoc tasks relating to the post-holder's specific area of work.
- Assisting in the completion of responses relating to FOI (Freedom of Information) queries.
- Producing accurate and auditable records for all work that is undertaken.
- Maintaining and updating procedure notes relevant to their areas of work.
- Contributing to the production of statements for the final accounts.
- Responsible for collating and filing source financial and non-financial documents (supplier invoices, financial statements, correspondence) in accordance with departmental procedures.
- Assisting in the production of periodic reports to senior finance staff, directorate managers and budget holders.
- Supporting the co-ordination of all supporting systems, e.g. ESR, General Ledger.
- The post holder may be required to undertake other duties and responsibilities as determined by their line manager within the overall parameters of the post.
