The Role: Finance Project Manager (FPM)
As the Finance Project Manager (FPM), you will act as a financial leader within a major rolling stock programme, collaborating closely with the Project Manager and team to ensure financial success while driving performance, risk management, and strategic decision-making across a multi-stakeholder environment.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Ownership of the project’s financial performance (cost, revenue, margin, cash).
- Ensuring the accuracy of cost allocations, revenue recognition (IFRS 15 compliance), cash flow planning, and forecasting.
- Leading budgeting, forecasting, and monthly performance reporting cycles to track progress against financial targets.
- Enforcing precision in financial data and alignment between budgets and project execution from tender to delivery.
- Managing work package financial reviews to support efficient spend and value generation.
- Identifying, quantifying, and monitoring financial risks (cost exposure, cash flow, margin impact) alongside opportunities for value creation.
- Driving consistent monthly financial performance reviews for leadership and stakeholders.
- Acting as a trusted financial advisor, providing strategic insights to the project team.
- Ensuring compliance with financial governance, reporting standards, and project lifecycle requirements.
- Highlighting early financial risks and aligning assumptions to safeguard project success.

Essential Skills & Experience
✔ Proven expertise in project finance, cost control, and forecasting in a complex environment. ✔ Experience managing large-scale or engineering infrastructure projects. ✔ Strong ability to deliver financial performance in a project setting. ✔ Deep understanding of financial metrics, reporting, risk management, and compliance frameworks. ✔ Fluency in MS Excel and SAP is essential. ✔ Excellent stakeholder communication and relational skills.
✅ Desirable Qualification
- CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent professional finance certification.
