Work Type: Permanent-full-time (38.75 hours)
Location: Sutton Coldfield based (Hybrid 3 days on site)
Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum
Are you a confident finance professional who enjoys bringing structure to complexity, influencing stakeholders, and ensuring things get done?
We're looking for an ambitious Finance Close Coordinator to join our Finance team in a highly visible role that sits at the centre of the month-end process. This is far more than a traditional Accounts Assistant position; it's an opportunity to become the person who keeps the entire finance function moving.
You'll work closely with senior stakeholders across Finance, coordinating month-end activities, driving accountability, resolving issues, and ensuring the business delivers a smooth, accurate and efficient financial close every month.
Why This Role Stands Out
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys being at the heart of the action.
You'll have exposure across the entire finance function, working with teams spanning Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, Payroll, Tax and FP&A. You'll become the go-to person for month-end coordination, building relationships and influencing colleagues at all levels.
Success in this role won't come from managing people, it will come from your ability to communicate confidently, build credibility, challenge when needed, and influence others to deliver against critical deadlines.
If you're someone who wants to make an impact, improve processes, and gain exposure to senior finance leaders, this role offers an excellent platform for career progression.
What You'll Be Doing
As Month End Coordinator, you'll take ownership of the end-to-end month-end close process, ensuring deadlines are met and activities are completed accurately and efficiently.
You'll be responsible for:
- Owning and managing the month-end close timetable.
- Coordinating activities across multiple finance teams to ensure everything stays on track.
- Chasing progress, identifying bottlenecks, and resolving issues before they become problems.
- Leading month-end status meetings and communicating progress updates to stakeholders.
- Supporting balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments and key accounting activities.
- Maintaining visibility of outstanding actions and driving them through to completion.
- Supporting group reporting and consolidated month-end reporting requirements.
- Opening and closing accounting periods within Oracle and maintaining key system controls.
- Driving process improvements, automation initiatives and more efficient ways of working.
- Supporting audit readiness and ensuring robust governance and documentation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
