JOB REF:

The Role

Acting for global insurance companies, you will advise on a broad range of high-value domestic and international surety transactions, including:

  • Facility agreements
  • Recourse arrangements
  • Guarantee and on-demand bond documentation
  • Security documentation
  • Intercreditor agreements
  • Risk participation arrangements

You will work closely with colleagues across restructuring and disputes to provide a full-service offering to clients, supporting matters involving customer distress and claims under guarantees and bonds. The role offers significant client exposure, responsibility for leading transactions, and the opportunity to build long-term relationships within a highly specialized market.

The Candidate

Applications are welcomed from qualified Solicitors with a minimum of 5 years PQE and a strong background in banking, finance, project finance, or surety work. Previous surety experience would be beneficial but is by no means essential, as comprehensive training and ongoing support will be provided to help you develop your expertise in this specialist area. Candidates with broader transactional finance experience and familiarity with LMA documentation are encouraged.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
