A leading public sector organisation is seeking a Finance Systems Accountant to join its finance function. This is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery, maintenance and continuous improvement of specialist finance applications within a complex and evolving operational environment.

As a Finance Systems Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting and maintaining specialist finance applications, with a particular focus on Aptitude products (AICE, AAH or AC). Working closely with finance users, business stakeholders and technical teams, you will help ensure systems are effectively administered, maintained and continuously improved to support business objectives.

You will act as a key link between finance and technology teams, supporting system enhancements, user adoption, data integrity and business as usual operations, while contributing to ongoing projects and system development initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the configuration, administration and maintenance of finance systems.
  • Acting as a key contact for finance system users and stakeholders.
  • Assisting with system projects, upgrades, enhancements and testing activities.
  • Maintaining master data, system controls and user access permissions.
  • Monitoring system interfaces, reconciliations and data integrity checks.
  • Investigating and resolving user queries and system issues.
  • Producing and maintaining process documentation and operational procedures.
  • Supporting reporting requirements and management information development.
  • Delivering user training and guidance where required.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls and system efficiency.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Active SC clearance or eligibility to obtain SC Clearance - Essential
  • Previous experience administering Aptitude systems AICE, AAH, AC - Essential
  • Strong understanding of finance and accounting principles.
  • Studying towards or qualified to Level 4 AAT, part-qualified CCAB, CIMA or equivalent. - Essential
  • Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Power BI, Dynamics 365 or other ERP/General Ledger platforms - Desirable
  • Project management or service management certifications such as PRINCE2, MSP, Agile or ITIL - Desirable
