Finance Systems Accountant
Finance Systems Accountant (Aptitude i.e. AICE/AAH/AC)
Location: Westminster, London
About UK Export Finance
The Financial Control Division (FCD) — a friendly, dynamic, and fast-paced team at the heart of UK Export Finance (UKEF) — is responsible for:
- Ensuring effective financial control processes are in place
- Co-ordinating estimates, budgets, and forecasting processes
- Producing accacerb accurate and reliable monthly management accounts, annual accounts, and other financial information
- Managing:
- The UKEF bank accounts
- Purchase ledger & fixed asset registers
- General ledger (CODA)
- Advising on accounting treatments
- Ownership of UKEF accounting policies
- Leading large-scale operational changes via:
- Implementation of IFRS 9 and IFRS 17
- Transition to a new general ledger and purchase-to-pay system

Key focus areas:
- Supporting implementation teams (cross-fielding with Project and BAU)
- Liaising between end users, stakeholders, and development teams during go-live via practical SME and early-stage support services
Responsibilities
Cross-functional accountability spanning development and operational stages:
- Shadow the development team to document configuration changes
- Confirm requirements from SMEs/end users and ensure project teams act upon them
- Verify requirements are fully delivered and tested
- Inventory and document newly developed (BE) systems workflows
- Technical ownership of:
- Managing system interfaces, batches, and error resolution
- Reconciliation of data integration accuracy and completeness
- Contribute to:
- New financial controls, policies, and process documentation
- Enhanced reporting environments, ensuring quality and efficiency
- End-user training, troubleshooting, and documentation
- Initiative scope reviews for design scrutiny in collaboration with change request stakeholders

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Working towards or achieved:
- Level 4 AAT qualification
- Alternatively, halfway through equated CCAB (e.g., ICAEW) or CIMA pathway
Key Knowledge/Demand
- Extensive expertise in accounting/finance (critical for systems implementation)
Required Skills/Abilities
- Proficiency in:
- High attention to detail
- Numeracy and analytical problem-solving
- Organizational leadership in complexflows
- Strong IT literacy with MS Office suite and advanced Excel skills
Specific Prior Experience
- Prior expertise as an Aptitude Administrator (or equivalent systems functionality)
