Job Overview

Role Summary

The Finance Systems Officer will be responsible for maintaining financial systems, ensuring data accuracy and integrity, and providing technical support across the organisation.

  • Salary: £37,893 – £42,002 per annum
  • Contract: Permanent, full-time (part-time, flexible working, and job-sharing considered)
  • Location: Primarily on-site at Kew (60% minimum) with onsite and hybrid working options
  • Closing date: Thursday 16th July (midnight)

Reporting to the Head of Financial Systems, this evolving role offers the opportunity to shape its impact, working across all areas of the organisation.


Accountabilities & Key Responsibilities

Technical System Maintenance & Development

  • Oversee the upkeep, maintenance, and improvement of financial systems (e.g., Workday, Adaptive Planning), ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
  • Use automated processes, machine learning algorithms, and generative AI tools to handle repetitive tasks, predict trends, and generate insights from historical data.
  • Solve complex financial and system-related challenges, driving meaningful change.

Spreadsheet Management & Data Integrity

  • Create, manage, and update spreadsheets for financial tracking.
  • Ensure compliance of chart of account codes, cost centres, and reporting groups across teams.
  • Develop and oversee forecasting and budgeting templates, including data uploads to Workday.

Technical Support & System Oversight

  • Provide first-line support to finance colleagues, troubleshooting system issues.
  • Collaborate with external suppliers to resolve technical problems and manage third-party projects.

Compliance, Documentation & Reporting

  • Generate financial reports and summaries for executive teams.
  • Ensure adherence to financial regulations and standards.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of processes, system changes, and updates.

Training & Collaboration

  • Deliver training sessions and develop user guides on financial systems.
  • Work closely with finance teams and other departments to ensure seamless integration.

About You: Person Specification

Essential Criteria

✅ Substantial experience in maintaining and improving financial information systems, including a deep understanding of data structures and financial processes. ✅ Excellent IT skills, including advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency. ✅ Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. ✅ Exceptional attention to detail and data accuracy in financial system management. ✅ Effective communication and interpersonal skills. ✅ Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. ✅ Strong organisation and time management.

Desirable Criteria

🔹 Experience in government or public sector finance. 🔹 Proficiency in Excel macros and VBA.
