Wealth Management Project Manager

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Project Manager to join Robert Walters as a Consultant. As an employed Consultant, you will benefit from permanent employment with Robert Walters and will be deployed on an interim or project basis into our clients' organisations. In return, we will provide you with the opportunity to develop your skills with ongoing training and professional accreditations.

What you'll do:

As a Finance Operations Transformation Project Manager based in London, you will play an instrumental role in delivering large-scale change initiatives that support the ongoing evolution of wealth management services. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve close collaboration with business leaders and technology partners as you guide projects from conception through completion.

  • Lead the shaping, initiation, and mobilisation of multiple complex projects or programmes within the wealth transformation portfolio, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Take full ownership for end-to-end delivery of finance operations transformation initiatives across various jurisdictions, managing all aspects from planning through execution.
  • Collaborate with senior business stakeholders to define project outcomes, influence decision-making processes, and ensure clear communication of progress and changes throughout the organisation.
  • Coordinate resources using matrix management frameworks, engaging both internal teams and external partners to achieve project milestones efficiently.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans and roadmaps tailored to diverse audiences, presenting detailed timelines and deliverables to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Manage financial diligence for assigned projects by overseeing budgeting processes or contributing to broader programme budget frameworks to secure successful delivery within agreed parameters.
  • Proactively identify, assess, and manage risks and issues related to project delivery; escalate concerns through appropriate channels while serving as a point of escalation for stakeholders.
  • Drive effective dependency management across interconnected projects or workstreams to optimise resource allocation and minimise bottlenecks.
  • Champion business readiness activities by understanding organisational challenges and developing strategies that facilitate smooth transitions during periods of change.
  • Create, own, and maintain essential project artefacts while adapting methodologies, templates, and tools to suit varying scenarios within the transformation lifecycle.

What you bring:

  • Demonstrated experience delivering large or complex projects within wealth or asset management with proven results across both business and technology domains.
  • Comprehensive understanding of delivery methodologies including Agile and Waterfall approaches; able to adapt methods as needed for different scenarios.
  • Strong track record defining and implementing Target Operating Models (TOM) as part of finance transformation initiatives such as process redesign or system automation.
  • In-depth knowledge of finance functions relevant to wealth or asset management sectors coupled with practical experience managing operating model change.
  • Proven ability to manage diverse teams via matrix structures while motivating individuals towards shared objectives in fast-evolving contexts.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills with evidence of building consensus among senior leaders; adept at overcoming challenges through consultative collaboration.
  • Excellent judgement when navigating complex decisions; capable of explaining intricate concepts clearly to varied audiences including C-suite executives.
  • Experience managing budgets for significant projects or contributing effectively within larger programme budget frameworks; strong commercial mindset required.
  • Ability to resolve challenging issues constructively-escalating when necessary-and contribute meaningfully towards end-state solutions that benefit the wider organisation.
  • Relevant professional qualifications relating to wealth/asset management industries or recognised project management practices are highly desirable.
