My Trauma Is Chronic, But I Am Iconic!!™ C.I.C. (MTICBIAI) is a Community Interest Company dedicated to supporting people who have experienced trauma and adversity. The organization specializes in working with care-experienced young people and adults, as well as individuals who have been involved in the criminal justice system, offering compassionate, trauma-informed guidance. Each year, MTICBIAI supports over 1,700 people through bespoke, holistic interventions, including mentoring, its flagship Thrive programme, access to essentials, tailored psychological resources, and trauma-informed therapeutic support. The organization also provides consultancy and training to help systems and services better respond to the needs of marginalized communities, generating significant social value by improving wellbeing, resilience, and opportunities. By preventing further crises and promoting sustainable transformation, its work delivers measurable impact for individuals and society, including substantial savings in social costs.
Role Purpose
The Financial Trustee plays a vital role in ensuring the organisation is financially sustainable, accountable, and well governed. Working alongside fellow trustees, you will provide strategic financial oversight, support effective decision-making, and ensure robust financial management and compliance.
You will oversee the organisation's financial health, maintain accurate financial records, manage bookkeeping, prepare annual accounts, and help ensure that all funds are managed responsibly and in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
You will:
- Provide strategic financial leadership and advice to the Board of Trustees.
- Oversee the organisation's financial management and ensure appropriate financial controls are in place.
- Maintain accurate bookkeeping records and ensure all financial transactions are recorded correctly.
- Prepare annual accounts and supporting financial statements in line with relevant reporting requirements.
- Liaise with independent examiners, accountants, or auditors where required.
- Review and reconcile bank accounts, income, and expenditure records.
- Monitor income, expenditure, cash flow, and financial performance.
- Prepare and present regular financial reports to the Board of Trustees.
- Develop, monitor, and review annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Ensure all financial records are maintained accurately and securely.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial, legal, and regulatory requirements.
- Advise the Board on financial risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
- Support grant budgeting, financial reporting, and funder compliance.
- Ensure charitable funds and organisational assets are safeguarded and used appropriately.
- Contribute to strategic planning and support the organisation's long-term financial sustainability.
- Promote transparency, accountability, and good financial governance across the organisation.

Person Specification
Essential
- Experience in bookkeeping, accounting, finance, or financial management.
- Experience preparing annual accounts or financial statements.
- Good understanding of budgeting, cash flow management, and financial reporting.
- Ability to interpret financial information and communicate it clearly to people without a financial background.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- High levels of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a Board.
- Commitment to good governance and ethical financial management.

Desirable
- A recognised accounting or bookkeeping qualification, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience serving as a trustee, governor, committee member, or non-executive director.
- Knowledge of charity, Community Interest Company, or not-for-profit finance.
- Experience using accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar.
- Experience supporting independent examinations or audits.
- Understanding of grant funding, restricted income, and financial reporting requirements.
