A well-established, award-winning technology business in London is looking for a Financial Accountant to join their team! With over 30 years of trading history, a debt-free balance sheet, and a strong footprint across corporate, government, and not-for-profit sectors, this is a genuinely stable business with real long-term prospects.
In this senior role, you'll own financial accuracy and statutory compliance, lead and develop a small finance team, and provide insight that supports both day-to-day operations and strategic decision-making. There's also meaningful scope to drive process improvements within a collaborative, well-resourced environment, and the package includes structured training, ongoing development, annual performance reviews, and a generous pension scheme.
What you'll do:
- Prepare monthly management accounts, detailed financial reports, and accurate forecasts to support informed decision-making across the UK & Ireland business.
- Ensure the integrity of the balance sheet by performing timely reconciliations and maintaining effective financial controls throughout all processes.
- Analyse financial performance through comprehensive variance analysis and trend identification to highlight risks and opportunities for the business.
- Identify underlying drivers of business performance while proactively supporting operational teams with insightful financial information.
- Oversee year-end financial statements preparation along with supporting reconciliations to ensure statutory compliance is maintained at all times.
- Manage cash flow processes diligently while upholding rigorous financial controls to safeguard organisational assets.
- Lead tax compliance activities including preparing VAT returns, managing statutory reporting obligations, and coordinating the annual external audit process as the principal point of contact for auditors.
- Prepare annual budgets, forecasts, key performance indicators (KPIs), corporation tax submissions, and other statutory returns in line with group requirements.
- Process monthly payroll accurately while ensuring all related documentation is completed efficiently and confidentially.
- Motivate, guide, and review the work of two finance team members responsible for accounts payable/receivable, general administration, and logistics; foster their professional growth through supportive leadership.

What you bring:
- A recognised professional accountancy qualification such as ACCA or ACA is required to demonstrate your technical expertise in this field.
- At least seven years' full-time post-qualification experience ensures you bring depth of knowledge to this senior finance role.
- Proven track record in a Financial Accountant or similar position highlights your capability to manage complex accounting functions independently.
- Experience with monthly Group reporting processes enables you to meet demanding deadlines without compromising accuracy or quality.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills combined with proficiency in modern accounting or ERP systems allow you to handle large volumes of data efficiently.
- Exceptional analytical abilities paired with meticulous attention to detail ensure that all financial outputs are reliable and error-free.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills empower you to convey complex information clearly when liaising with senior management or external advisers.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate confidently across various stakeholder groups, including customers, fosters trust within the organisation.
- Sound interpersonal skills coupled with leadership qualities enable you to motivate team members effectively while maintaining high standards of professionalism.
- Experience preparing/managing budgets alongside a strong commitment to teamwork reflects your dedication towards achieving shared goals within ethical boundaries.
