Financial Accountant Position – Market Harborough
About the Role
We’re excited to recruit a Financial Accountant for a respected organisation based in Market Harborough. This role offers a dynamic opportunity to support financial reporting, governance, and business partnering across a diverse group structure—contributing to both strategic planning and day-to-day decision-making.
Education & Qualifications
- Qualified accountant (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW) or equivalent with strong accounting foundations
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Financial Accountant role or similar position
Experience & Requirements
Technical & Financial Skills
- Hands-on experience with UK VAT reporting and compliance with regulatory requirements
- Advanced proficiency in UK GAAP financial reporting, including P&L, balance sheets, and management information
- Expertise in general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and oversight of control accounts
- Experience delivering cost management reporting and variance analysis to senior stakeholders
- Proven ability to support annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes
- Strong data analysis and financial modelling skills
- System upgrades and new product development project experience in a finance capacity

- Exceptional attention to detail with a track record of data accuracy and record-keeping
- Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis, pivot tables, and data visualisation
- Technological fluency with peer-reviewed IT systems and automation tools
- Outstanding communication, liaison, and stakeholder management skills
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professional judgement
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting
- Produce monthly and quarterly financial reports, including:
- Profit & Loss (P&L) statements
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Management information packages for subsidiaries
Operational Finance
- Maintain robust financial controls and ensure integrity in general ledger accuracy
- Deliver cost management reporting and variance analysis to support business decisions
- Coordinate annual budgeting and forecasting processes

Compliance & Processes
- Lead VAT reporting processes, ensuring ongoing compliance and adherence to regulatory frameworks
- Provide expert guidance during system upgrades and new product development initiatives
Business Support
- Offer financial analysis and modelling to support strategic projects and initiatives
- Act as a Finance lead on key projects, bridging finance and operational teams
Role Details
- Salary: Up to £45,000
- Location: Market Harborough (Hybrid: 2 days in-office, 2 days remote)
- Hours: 35 hours per week
- Leave: 27 days annual plus bank holidays and an additional birthday day
